General Tube Radio Nice
Up for bid is a truly unique deco styled radio from the mid-30's. Made under the general name brand this is a 5 tube am/short waev set. This set was also made under the silver name brand, short for mcmurdo silver rfom chicago. This set aws completely refurbished. The chassis has had all of it's old wax capacitors changed nad all resistors checked for correct values. It has a new cloth covered cord. All tubes were checked on my hickok tube tester. It recieves statiosn very well with a long wire antenna. It plays with great tone as most tube radio's do. The cabinet hsa had a thorough refurbish. The original finish was just too bad to save.
It has severla coats of hand rubbed lacquer and has a deep smooth finish. In the pics it has picked up alot of reflections. The knobs are the original bakelite set. If you like the hard to find deco set's of the 30's here's one for you. I wouldn't call this set rare, but you won't see one on ebay every week or month. I detail all of the set's i restore.
